CHAPTER ONE
1.0 INTRODUCTION
A gel is a nice cosmetic that is used to style hairs. The use of hair gel depends on the style that one wants to do. In the production and development of hair gel, there are modifications and new styles are still coming out.
Scientists have contributed to the growth of hair gel, that it has become the cosmetic of no one but he who makes the best of it.
This chapter presents a survey of the cosmetic (gel) from the early beginning to present and future use as means of diverting the knowledge of the path cosmetic gel has taken to become what it is and would be many years today.
1.1 THE DEVELOPMENT OF GEL
The development of gel could be divided roughly into three periods:
- Colourless hair gel
- Black hair gel
iii. Spray hair gel.
- COLOURLES HAIR GEL
This is the first hair gel that was introduced, which looks like starch. It was good and lasts for sometimes when applied to the hair but its disadvantage was that shows whitish colour when applied.
During the time it was introduced, it was rich and significant other great work it does was that it holds the hair firm, beautiful and there are many ways and styles used to apply it.
- BLACK HAIR GEL
As time went on, the black hair gel was introduced. This gave greater impetus to the development of hair gel. One of the most important adantage of this is that it does not change the price of hair gel, hence it makes the whitish colour that appear in the colourless gel not to be seen, when applied to the hair. It makes the whole hair black. It suits all hair type and darkens coloured and grey hair.
iii. SPRAY HAIR GEL
The introduction of spray hair gel gave gel a new lease of life. Above all, it is used both in styling hair and in weavons and attachments. Now, gel can be used by anybody and at any time. The firs two (colourless and black gel) are cheaper than the spry gel, but this spray gel is the best among all.
Generally, the ingredients for making hair gel are de-ionized water, carbopol, ethyl alcohol prp, methyl parabol, sodium hydroxide, and black colour and strawberry flavours.
1.2 STATEMENT OF PROBLEMS
Hair gel has its own side effect. There is a given period of time one can carry hair gel and then wash it off. If it is being carried for more than the period like one week, it can cut hairs.
The colourless gel itself shows starchy particles when it dries in the hair. It is no more of any use unlike the two other types.
1.3 AIM AND OBJECTIVE
- a) AIM
Production of hair gel.
- b) OBJECTIVE
The objective of this project is to make a hair gel that will last long. Other hair gels were tested and see how long they lasted and hold hairs.
This idea came up because it was seen that hair gel is getting expensive with such side effect. So we want to make gel that will last long without any side effect.
1.4 SIGNIFICANT OF STUDY
The significant of this project is to have a hair gel that will do a good enough job of styling and holding hairs well without experiencing any side effect. So that people can buy it and be able to carry any style for about two or three weeks. We also want to produce the one that will not cut hairs.
