Founded in 1975, University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) is a second-generation Federal University located in the Niger-Delta region of Nigeria with over 50,000 students and a strong focus in Petroleum Engineering. Formerly known as University College, Port Harcourt, UNIPORT has been ranked amongst the top ten universities in Africa and as the first in Nigeria by Times Higher Education (THE); a UK-based source for higher education information. Under the administration of the current Vice Chancellor, Professor Nimi Briggs, UNIPORT recently reached a milestone by being the first university to train the first set of Nuclear Engineers in Nigeria. The University also won a grant from the World Bank to build up a center of excellence in oilfield chemicals. DURATION OF GRADUATE PROGRAMMES

A. Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE)

The Programme is to run on a Full-Time basis to last for a minimum of 12 calendar months and maximum of 24 calendar months and two consecutive long vacation of eight (8) weeks each for sandwich programme.

B. MBA Programme

Full-Time: Minimum of 24 Calendar Months and Maximum of 36 Calendar Months

C. MD and MS Programmes

The Programmes will last for at least 24 Calendar Months.

D. Ph.D Programmes

Full-Time candidates will be required to spend a minimum of 24 calendar months and a maximum of 60 calendar months.

Part-Time candidates will be required to spend a minimum of 36 calendar months and a maximum of 84 calendar months.

E. DBA Programme

Full-time candidates shall be required to spend a minimum of three (3) years and a maximum of five (5) years from the date of first registration.

Part-time candidates will be required to spend a minimum of five (5) years and a maximum of seven (7) years.
